NFL Week 2 Recap: Vick might think the Eagles won his homecoming

On Sunday night it was all about Mike Vick and his return to the place where he became a household name, and when the clock hit zero it was still about Mike Vick. But this time it was his health that was being talked about not his play on the field. Vick was injured in the second half with his Eagles controlling the Falcons throughout the game. Mat Ryan and Atlanta took advantage of the Vick injury, and fought back from being down 10 to pull out the much needed victory for the Falcons.

If you read my season preview, you know I had some serious doubts Vick would play all 16 games.Well long and behold it only took 2 weeks to see his name listed as questionable, and with a head injury this could be something that hangs with him for a while. Mike Vick is a tough guy but the way he plays the game it is only a matter of time before he gets hurt. Vince Young is there, but I really doubt someone as mentally soft as Young would be able to win tough games in a city like Philly. My reccomendation to Andy Reid is to not start Vick this week, let him heal and save his body for January because this team will live and day on Mike Vick.

With that, lets take a look at the other top stories from Week 2:

  • Nobody circles the wagons like the undefeated Buffalo Bills. Buffalo came all the way back from a 21-3 hole at half to win a shootout against the Raiders 38-35. The teams combined for 4 touchdowns in the final 10 minutes and looked like an old AFL shootout. The Bills have a chance to make some noise this week as they welcome the Patriots into Ralph Wilson for a battle of 2-0 teams.
  • The Chargers played like it was January, and so did Brady. The Chargers made mistakes, including three turnovers inside the Patriots 35 yard line. Tom Brady continued his hot start with another great performance. Even with his back to back 400+ yards passing performance he is still chasing rookie Cam Newton.
  • The Lions are 2-0, the LIONS ARE 2-0. Detroit was a team picked by a lot of people to be a surprise contender, and the Lions are holding up their end. After an impressive win against Tampa, the Lions boat raced the Chiefs with a 48-3. Detroit looks to improve to 3-0, and chances are good as they face a winless Vikings team.
  • It is going to be a long year in Indy, but at least they can got the Super Bowl this year. After two weeks of not so good football, I think we can all agree Peyton Manning means more then any other quarterback to his team. The Colts followed up their week one drubbing by losing to the Browns 27-19. The loss drops them to 0-2, and it wont get any easier with Pittsburgh and Tampa upcoming. Could we really be talking about the Colts at 0-4?? Yes
  • The Ravens were so excited about beating the Steelers they apparently forgot about week 2. In what had to be the shock of the day, the Ravens looked flat in their 26-13 loss to Tennessee. Turnovers played a big part in the loss, and the Ravens turned the ball over 3 times. Matt Hasslebeck torched the defense for 358 yards in the win for the Titans, who celebrated the first victory for their new coach. The Ravens look to bounce back as they head to St Louis to face a good young Rams team.

Whats your Fantasy??

With 2 weeks in the books, I am the proud owner of a 2-0 team in the Tumblr fantasy football league. It was another great performance by Darren McFadden, and Aaron Rodger bounced back from a slow start to put up numbers against Carolina. The key was my Johnson and Johnson receiving core, as Steve (BUF) and Andre (HOU) both put up over 20 points for me. It was a close 19 point win, but a win is a win. Looking for a big performance from the Chargers defense this week, as they play the horrible Chiefs offense.

Final Thoughts

We are at week two, but this past Sunday was the first NFL Redzone viewing for me of the season. You remember it is good, but it is not until watching the entire day do you realize how sweet it is. Being able to watch this channel is like having every game at your finger tips, the only difference is someone else is on top of it for you. I hate commercials, as I am sure most people do, so it is great to not have to watch Jennifer Lopez drive a car. While I mention that, is it just me or is that horrible commercial on every break possible? It needs to stop!

But yea, NFL Redzone is the greatest thing ever…well NFL TV watching wise

I will once again be at the Q in San Diego tomorrow for the Chargers game against a really bad Chiefs team. And if the Bolts don’t win by at least 2 touchdowns, there is a chance I will riot. Enjoy your Sunday!!
